Recollections: Val Shively and 50 Years of
Collecting Records in Pennsylvania,
and his inspiration, now friend, John Carbone
of The Five Discs

After first hearing John sing, Val began a record collection that has grown to more than 11,000!

Val Shively has been collecting records since
he was 12 years old, and his personal
collection now tops 11,000, separate from R&B Records, his legendary shop outside Philadelphia. And the group that started it all? The Five Discs,
featuring John Carbone, who joined us today
to celebrate!
Their song is in the background of this video.
